Dr. Matthew S. Johnson, MD, a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1986. After completing his Radiology Residency at Loyola University in Chicago, he went on to complete a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Johnson is currently Associate Professor of Radiology and Head of the Interventional Radiology Research Fellowship Program at Indiana University Medical Center.
A committed educator and clinician, Dr. Johnson's primary research interests include local drug delivery, pulmonary embolism and stent grafts. He has received many awards, among them the Radiology Editor's Recognition Award for Reviewing and the SCVIR "Outstanding Faculty" Award. He was made an Associate Editor of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology in 1998.
In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Johnson is an avid player of soccer, as are his wife and four children. In addition to also coaching soccer and baseball, Dr. Johnson enjoys playing the piano and cello, and tending to his coral reef aquarium.
