Martin J. Lipton, MD

Dr. Lipton was born in England and trained at Hammersmith Hospital and the Post Graduate Medical School of London. in both Medicine as well as Radiology. He was then appointed Senior Registrar at St. George's and the National Heart Hospitals, and later in 1969 moved to Stanford University for a fellowship, and then joined the faculty there. Dr. Lipton took a sabbatical in 1977 at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) as a scientist in the Cardiovascular Research Institute. He returned to Stanford briefly and then joined the faculty at UCSF, first as an associate professor and subsequently became professor and section chief. Since April 1988 through June 2000 he was Chairman of Radiology at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Lipton has over 400 scientific publications, and has edited five textbooks.
