Dr. Shwayder is
Director of Gynecology and Gynecologic Ultrasound at Denver Health Medical Center,
Danver, Colorado as well as Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at his alma mater,
the University of Colorado at Denver. In addition to being in great demand as
a lecturer at national meetings, he is a reviewer for a number of journals,
including the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine and the American Journal of
Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr.
Shwayder, born and raised in Colorado, received his medical degree from the
University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver in 1978. After completing his
residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, he went into private practice
in Virginia until November of 1998, when he returned to Colorado. He has written
numerous articles and book chapters in the areas of ultrasound, hysteroscopy
and laparoscopy, physician profiling and outcomes-based medicine. In
addition to his professional interests, Dr. Shwayder enjoys skiing, bike riding
and traveling with his wife, and 3 children. In what little spare time he has
left, Dr. Shwayder is a second year law student at the University of Denver.
Upon completion he plans to focus on risk reduction in ultrasound and endoscopic
surgery, areas that present
significant medical-legal risk for OB/GYN practitioners.
