D. Eugene Strandness, Jr. MD IAME mourns the loss of Dr. D. Eugene Strandness, Jr., who passed away on Monday, January 7, 2002. Whenever Dr. Strandness spoke at an IAME meeting he was always a great attraction for our attendees; for us he was a true professional and a pleasure to work with. He was last scheduled to appear at our 10th Anniversary Conference on September 14-16, 2001 but, by the time that conference was re-scheduled on December 7-9, he was already too ill to travel. Dr. Strandness was, in the words of Bonnie Johnson, Director of Vascular Laboratory Services at Stanford, "the father of the vascular laboratory, the pillar of our profession and friend of many."
