The median nerve arises from the lateral and medial cords of the brachial plexus. The nerve courses anteriorly in the arm and forearm and terminates in the hand, giving rise to motor and sensory branches.

The most common area of median nerve abnormalities is at the carpal tunnel; this is called carpal tunnel syndrome.  In this course, we will discuss normal anatomy, normal variants of the median nerve, median nerve pathology, as well as common locations of impingement/entrapment.
