IAME STATEMENT ON PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

Your privacy is important to us. Accordingly, we have adopted the following privacy policy. Our policy is based on the principles of notice, choice and security in the collection and use of all information regarding our users and their activities at our site.

NOTICE

This policy tells you, among other things, what information we gather from you, how we may use or disclose that information, and our efforts to protect it. Please read this policy carefully, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding its content. We may change this policy at any time to correct technical errors, to increase your rights and protections, or to comply with laws. If we change this policy in a way that reduces your rights or protections or adds new types of disclosures, we will provide notification before such changes would apply to information collected from or about you.

TYPES OF INFORMATION COLLECTED

IAME requires identification information from users of its educational activities in order to award and maintain records of continuing education credits. Such information is also necessary for proper coordination of live events. We may additionally, from time to time, collect survey information for the purposes of assessing the educational needs, desired learning styles and other preferences of our audience.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION

When you register for a Continuing Medical Education (“CME”) activity through our Web site, we collect certain personally identifiable information from you such as your name, e-mail address, and mailing address. In addition to personally identifiable information, we collect aggregated non-personally-identifiable information about the activities undertaken by our users. We use the information that we collect through CME activities in several ways:

  1. IAME is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (“ACCME”) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. As an ACCME-accredited entity, we are required periodically to submit aggregated data about CME participants and the CME activities we certify. We also maintain personally identifiable information about you and credits issued to you, for the purpose of maintaining records that you can request from us for up to six (6) years.
  2. At times we may provide commercial supporters of our CME activities with aggregated data about CME activities that are relevant to their interests and/or the courses they support.
  3. IAME and our customer support staff will have internal access to files containing personally identifiable information, including evaluation forms and aggregated CME participant information. These files can be accessed in order to respond to your questions or comments. Our staff may also use personally identifiable information, including registration information and evaluation data, in assessing educational needs and planning promotional activities.

We may use the information we collect as otherwise permitted in this Privacy Policy.

MARKETING AND ADVERTISING

We may target our advertising or marketing depending on information we have about you. For example, a user who we know to be a cardiologist may receive advertising for educational programs that address the practice of cardiology. We also create aggregate data about visitors to our Web site for development and improvement of our educational activities. We also use it for market analysis. We may provide information from our Web site in aggregate form, with identifying information removed, to third parties. For example, we may tell a healthcare partner what percentage of our registered users resides in a particular geographical area. When aggregated health information is provided, we pool it from many individual records and strip it of any data that could be used to identify an individual before it is used. Any third party that receives aggregated healthcare data must agree not to attempt to re-identify the people it belongs to.

USE OF INFORMATION

From time to time, we may send you communications about IAME’s programs and other subjects that we feel to be of professional interest to you.  However we do not share our secure, proprietary database of CME participants with any outside parties. We do not share your e-mail address or other personal information with outside parties at any time without your permission.

ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION

If your personally identifiable information changes, you can update it by contacting us by email or by calling us at (802) 824-4433, or by sending us the update via postal mail to IAME, PO Box 2004, South Londonderry, VT 05155.

CHOICE

You may, at any time, request that your name be excluded from such communications by contacting us.
